A longer break at the Zelenskiy media event at Kyiv hip eatery. But as Meduza and other point out this could just be the halfway point of a 10-hour session with journalists. Three hundred have been accredited for the event.
And here's a video snippet from Zelenskiy's press event today:
Zelenskiy: 'No Blackmail' In Trump Call
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says he didn’t know military aid from the United States had been held up before a July 25 phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump. In that call, Trump asked for Zelenskiy's cooperation on investigations related to former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden, who is running for president, and his son, Hunter, who had business dealings in the Ukrainian gas company, Burisma. The call is at the center of an impeachment inquiry led by Congressional Democrats. During an October 10 news conference in Kyiv, Zelenskiy declared “there was no blackmail” in his call with Trump. Zelenskiy says Ukraine will raise the issue of Crimea, which was illegally annexed by Russia in 2014, whenever possible, at all "forums."
Others have noted not much mention at all during Zelenskiy press event about Crimea.
Zelenskiy compares the areas of Luhansk and Donetsk occupied by Russia-backed separatists to Transdniester, a breakaway region of Moldova where Russian troops are permanently stationed.
Meduza points out that Zelenskiy rules out publishing transcripts of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, arguing it won't help bring Ukrainian prisoners back or end the war in eastern Ukraine.
Seventh session between Zelenskiy and group of reporters in the books. Still some 150 reporters still waiting in the wings to speak with the Ukrainian leader. Some wondering whether he will be able to pull it off.
