Ukrainian President Fires Ambassador To Belarus

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has dismissed Ihor Kyzym from the post of ambassador to Belarus. The dismissal was announced on June 22 in a decree issued by Zelenskiy. The reason for Kyzym's dismissal was not released. Kyzym had headed Ukraine's embassy in Minsk since 2017. Kyiv severed diplomatic relations with Russia but not with Belarus after the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. A draft resolution on recognizing Belarus as an aggressor state and on breaking off diplomatic relations was recently introduced in the Ukrainian parliament.
