Police say two officers were slightly wounded in a Taliban suicide attack on a police training center in the eastern Afghan city of Khost on January 7.

An RFE/RL Radio Mashaal reporter said the attackers first detonated a car laden with explosives in front of the training facility.

Two assailants wearing suicide vests then entered the center and exchanged gunfire with police before detonating their explosives.

Images from the scene showed a mangled part of a vehicle outside the training center's stone wall and a policeman with a bandaged hand.

A Taliban spokesman claimed responsibility for the attack in a statement sent to Radio Mashaal.

RFE/RL has been declared an "undesirable organization" by the Russian government.
