A group of Afghan army cadets has arrived in Pakistan for training.
Pakistani officials say six officers landed in the capital Islamabad on February 5 and for 18 months of training at the Pakistan Military Academy in the northern city of Abbottabad.
Afghan Ambassador in Islamabad, Janan Mosazai, said the move was "an important step in both countries' efforts to strengthen, broaden and deepen security and military relations and cooperation in all areas."
In Kabul, an unidentified Afghan security official said more officers would be sent to Pakistan for training.
Pakistan military chief General Raheel Sharif had offered training to Afghan forces during his visit to Kabul in December 2014.
The two neighbors have traded accusations that they are not doing enough to fight Islamist militants, but ties have improved since a new government took over in Kabul last year.
